Activate your change makers: For a better food future

With sustainability and health more urgent than ever, businesses face a choice: stick with the status quo or step boldly into a future where food is better for both people and the planet.

The Healthy Sustainable Diets Accelerator is for those ready to lead the change. This isn’t just about learning—it’s about taking action, building connections, and shaping the future of sustainable food.

We’ve created a unique space where participants from all roles and stages of the supply chain come together to engage in meaningful conversations, share insights, and drive real progress—collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders who are committed to learning and moving forward together. No matter your role in the food industry, you can shape a healthier, more sustainable future for food – Clare, Ashleigh, Nella, Hattie and Jack are proof of this.

The last cohort brought together a diverse mix of participants, ranging from industry giants like Tesco, Warburtons, Amazon Fresh, and Nestlé to challenger brands such as MOJU and STOCKED as well as farmers—all working together to challenge outdated models and drive meaningful business impact. Participants gained cutting-edge insights, commercial strategies and a powerful industry network to strengthen their leadership in sustainability. [secure your HSD sport here].

LONG-TERM SUSTAINABILITY VS SHORT-TERM PROFIT- AMAZON FRESH

For Clare Bartlett, Senior Product Developer at Amazon Fresh, the Accelerator was an opportunity to rethink the bigger picture. With her role shaping products for shelves, she knew sustainability needed to be ingrained from the start.

The Accelerator provided the space and network to push her ideas, reinforcing her belief that businesses chasing short-term wins would struggle, while those planning for the future would thrive. She left with renewed purpose—to guide Amazon Fresh in shaping consumer demand, offering healthier, more sustainable choices that benefit both the planet and the bottom line.

Clare’s key takeaway: “Consumers want to do the right thing for their health and the planet but often don’t know how. It’s our job as food retailers to guide them toward healthier, more sustainable choices. Playing the long game is essential-businesses that plan for a sustainable future, rather than chasing quick profits, will thrive.”

For Clare, the programme provided actionable strategies, a powerful network and fresh insights to drive sustainable innovation at Amazon Fresh.

INDUSTRY COLLABORATION IS THE KEY TO CHANGE – COOK

For Ashleigh, Sustainability & Responsible Sourcing Manager at COOK, the Accelerator offered more than just knowledge—it provided a commercial edge to align sustainability with business growth.

Throughout the programme, she worked alongside industry leaders and small businesses alike, each bringing a different perspective to the same challenges. What became clear was that individual action wasn’t enough—systemic change required the entire industry to work together.

“The biggest shift was realising how deeply climate, health and sustainability are interconnected. The Accelerator showed that tackling one area can create ripple effects across the entire food system.”

What’s changed since?

✔ Greater collaboration with health & sustainability teams
✔ A sharper focus on helping customers make healthier, sustainable choices
✔ New insights that directly inform COOK’s long-term strategy and commercial opportunities.

EMPOWERING CHALLENGER BRANDS – MOJU

For Nella, Supply Chain & Operations Director at MOJU, the Accelerator was a game-changer. As a fast-growing brand, staying ahead of industry trends is critical.

“We use nature’s most potent ingredients to fuel people’s days, but as a small company, we must understand what major stakeholders prioritize.”

It also highlighted the growing demand for sustainability—not just from consumers but from investors, retailers and regulators.

The Accelerator helped MOJU:

✔ Strengthen supply chains through regenerative food systems
✔ Align with consumer demand for sustainability
✔ Build connections with key decision-makers

Best advice for the industry? “Put People, Planet and Profit at the same level of importance. That’s how you create real change.”

A VISION FOR HEALTHIER FUTURES – WILDLY TASTY

Hattie, founder of Wildly Tasty, joined to gain knowledge and confidence in advocating for a healthier, more sustainable food future.

“I am incredibly inspired by the work FFM are doing and am excited to have the knowledge and insight from the Accelerator to be able to talk to people confidently about moving to a more healthy, sustainable diet and why we should all be doing so.”

Hattie is particularly passionate about the need for major food companies to prioritise health as much as sustainability. “All big food businesses have roles dedicated to sustainability and climate, but where is the Chief Health Officer? Health needs to be taken just as seriously as climate.”

She believes you should treat your customer as you would your own family. Striving to give them the best quality products by supporting the whole food system properly, starting with farmers and rewarding them to grow regeneratively.

Hattie’s biggest takeaway? “By helping to fix the food system, and advocating for a positive future in food, we can tackle health crisis which only looks at the solution at crisis level, as opposed to managing the problems through supporting healthier diets and healthy food being accessible to all.”

A SPACE FOR THE ENTIRE FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN TO BE INVOLVED – ALFRED G PEARCE LTD

Jack is the Managing Director of his family business, Alfred G Pearce Ltd. He joined the Accelerator to take ownership of the challenges faced by farmers and many stakeholders in the supply chain and to play a small part in shaping the future of the sector.

The biggest impact for Jack was a shift in mindset. “The sessions really opened my mind and changed how I approach my work.” His key takeaway was moving from a narrow, reductionist view to a more systemic approach to food challenges, integrating insights on regenerative farming, climate-smart sourcing and product development.”

Now, Jack focuses on aligning actions across the food system. “Whether it’s crop rotations or NPD projects, my goal is to link our activity from start to finish.”

For Jack, the Accelerator wasn’t just about learning—it was about unlearning, questioning assumptions and being open to new ideas. He left convinced that businesses embracing this mindset would be the ones leading the future of food.

Would Jack recommend the programme? “Absolutely. Even if you think you know a topic, the sessions will challenge your mindset with perspectives you don’t hear in your day-to-day.”
