A message from our founder
The urgency of addressing climate change cannot be overstated, with the World Economic Forum highlighting the cost of inaction as a top risk for the next decade.
The UK’s commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2050 requires a collective shift to lower-carbon diets aligned with public health goals, and we believe that businesses are the most powerful force to drive this change. The House of Lords recently released the much-anticipated "Recipe for Health" report - a comprehensive review that draws insights from over 150 experts across the food system. It opens with a striking tone: "Our food system is broken."
At our Annual Future Food Movement Business Leaders Dinner, Baroness Walmsley, who chaired the enquiry, delivered a rallying cry to our members: “Your objectives and targets need to be more closely aligned with the public health targets that we need to have in this country.”
With the Labour government expected to respond to the report before Christmas, industry-wide change might be on the horizon. But what does this mean for your business?
Food and drink companies, with their vast influence on consumer behaviour, have the potential to reshape habits faster than any government legislation, but the challenge lies in closing the skills gap that hinders meaningful climate action.
Many businesses are setting climate targets but lack the confidence and knowledge to achieve them. There is often a disconnect between ESG goals and commercial teams, as well as between health and sustainability departments.
To close this ‘say-do’ gap, it is crucial to improve climate literacy and business competency across all levels. With the right support, any team can contribute to positive climate action, and education plays a pivotal role in empowering business leaders to make confident, impactful decisions.
We created Future Food Movement to equip leaders and employees in the food industry with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to drive the changes our industry and world desperately need.
Through our upskilling, networking and insights, you will learn how to transform the food system, create innovative products and practices, and excel in a Net Zero economy.
We can’t wait to meet you in the network - join us.
